An excellent opportunity has become available for a Contracts expert to join our client, a leading London University, to support in negotiating and drafting high value research contracts. The ideal candidate will have previous experience negotiating contracts and managing budgets.

The ideal candidate will have past experience of working in a professional environment where you would negotiate agreements on behalf of an institute which would ideally conduct research, a strong work ethic and experience in drafting contracts and have a good understanding of grants. If you are able to work within a fast paced environment, liaise with people of all levels and can identify problems as they arise, then this could be the perfect challenge for you!

Contracts Associate Key Responsibilities:

  • The primary role is to draft, review and negotiate research-related agreements on behalf of the University
  • You would be responsible for the following agreements: Collaboration agreements with partners and funder prime contracts related to research grant awards; European agreements and subcontracts and other agreements for research-related academic collaborations such as industry funded agreements, fee for service or consultancy agreements and enabling agreements
  • You may be required to provide costings for research related agreements using the University’s costing systems and policies
  • Attending meetings with academic staff and/or external organisations to negotiate terms and help establish the partnerships
  • Taking the lead in negotiations and be responsible for securing the best terms for the University
  • Recording of legal agreements accurately and ensuring it is up-to-date for use as a central resource
  • Undertaking such other duties consistent with the post as required

 Contracts Associate Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience is desirable
  • Ability to analyse, understand and summarise legal agreements and project protocols
  • A professional and positive demeanour with the ability to be discrete with confidential information
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management and professionalism
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral
  • A high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
