An excellent opportunity has become available for a permanent Finance Assistant for a prestigious Academy in the North West London area. The successful applicant will assist the Director of Finance and Finance Team in undertaking a range of financial and general administrative support functions.

The ideal candidate will have previous finance and account payable experience and will be a confident user of the PS Financials software. If you are able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritise workload and meet deadlines then this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

Finance Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake routine accounting operations timely, including the receiving and processing of orders
  • Checking and processing invoices and requests for payment
  • Responsible for full adherence to the Academy’s financial and security procedures
  • Banking all cheques and cash timely and input accordingly using PS Financials accounting software
  • Ensuring all processes are meet the financial regulations, following appropriate financial procedures satisfy the EFA and audit requirements
  • Processing Purchase Orders and requisitions, accurately in accordance with agreed authorisation and timescales
  • Investigating and resolving suppliers invoices under query
  • Perform the month end procedures including bank and other reconciliations
  • Assisting the Finance Director in ad hoc projects and day-to-day duties
  • Providing general administrative support when required

Finance Assistant Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum ‘A’ Level qualification, however a degree in related area is desirable
  • At least 12 months finance and account payable experience
  • Experience and knowledge of accounting systems (knowledge of PS Financials is essential)
  • Experienced user of MS Office
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to details, numerical skills and accuracy
  • The ability to work as a part of a team and use own initiative
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure is desirable
