An excellent opportunity has become available for a Finance Assistant to join a large Retail Organisation in their Head Office on a temporary basis! The successful applicant will be working under direction of the Finance Manager and Sales Director, you will provide finance support with day to day transactions and other adhoc duties.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on person, with a “can do” attitude, who is a fast learner and comfortable handling a high volume of transactions with previous finance and account payable experience. If you are able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritise workload and meet deadlines then this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

Finance Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily posting, putting invoices and payments on, reconciling it with Sage on daily basis, credit control, keeping customers’ ledgers accurate and properly formatted
  • Allocating remittances, sending them to Sales Directors
  • Supporting Sales Director on daily transactions and liaising with agents on factory invoices
  • Liaising with bank on customer payments
  • Reconciling major supplier accounts
  • Creating Sales journals and posting them into Sage
  • Customer set up (applying for Euler credit limits, updating AFAS)
  • Intercompany reconciliations, bank charges analysis
  • Supporting Finance Manager with month end
  • Purchase ledger, creating orders, projects and updating ledger entering all purchase invoice into sage coding them correctly to the nominal accounts and projects
  • Other ad hoc duties as and when required

Finance Assistant Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with high volume of invoicing
  • Excellent Excel skills and able to pick new systems up quickly
  • Previous experience working with ledgers
  • Minimum ‘A’ Level qualification, however a degree in related area is desirable
  • At least 12 months finance and account payable experience
  • Experience and knowledge of accounting systems (knowledge of Sage Financial Software is highly desirable
  • Experienced user of MS Office, specifically Excel (Privot tables, VLookup and Formulas)
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to details, numerical skills and accuracy
  • The ability to work as a part of a team and use own initiative
