An excellent opportunity has become available to join our client, a renowned London university, as a teaching administrator at their campus in central London. You will be working in a team environment with programme directors and other academic and professional services staff in the Division, and with the Division’s Team Manager for Teaching & Learning.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in administrative role ideally in a higher education setting. They will be able to demonstrate excellent IT skills and administration skills alongside excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to staff members, students and guests of all levels. As this role is very hands on they must be able to juggle successfully and adhere to deadlines.

Teaching Administrator Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a full administrative service to the teaching activity on postgraduate degree programmes
  • Providing support to senior administrative staff in the Teaching and Learning Team
  • To act as a first administrative point of contact for current students and applicants
  • To respond promptly and efficiently to enquiries and problems relating to these programmes
  • Liaising with relevant programme directors, Exam Board Chairs, Module conveners, external examiners and other relevant staff on all administrative aspects of these programmes
  • Dealing with all aspects of the admissions process for the relevant programmes, including receiving and progressing applications, dealing with enquiries, organising interviews, registration and induction
  • To help coordinate marking and to adhere to deadlines for submission and feedback of assessed work
  • To keep an accurate and up-to-date record of all student data and maintain and update the content of student databases and shared drives
  • To develop and maintain a network of relevant contacts

Teaching Administrator Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Substantial recent experience of working within university administration with regard to degree programme administration and student support
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, email and the Internet. Willingness to learn other computer packages as needed
  • Educated to A level; with at least a GCSE or equivalent in English language and Mathematics
  • Familiarity with University databases
  • Must be tactful, diplomatic, have a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality, and be able to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive matters with discretion
