Are you looking for an opportunity where you can progress your career in academic administration?  If so, Signature Recruitment is excited to offer a Student and Academic Support Officer role for our client, a leading public research university in London. This position requires full time office-based working and has an immediate start for a 3-month period with the possibility to extend.

As a Student and Academic Support Officer, you will be at the heart of the academic community, providing essential support across college programmes. Your day-to-day tasks will include managing student records, responding to enquiries, assisting with assessment and reassessment arrangements, module registrations, and supporting various academic activities. Your role is crucial during the assessments period, handling module queries and ensuring accurate mark collation for faculty sub-boards. This position requires excellent organisational skills and attention to detail with a proactive approach to handle a fast paced and often challenging campus environment.

Student and Academic Support Officer Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Student and Academic Support Team in the collation of marks for Academic and Exam Boards
  • Ensuring the accurate data collection and entry of Student Records
  • Responding professionally to student, staff and academic enquiries, offering guidance and information
  • Helping in managing student events, room bookings, and external speaker arrangements
  • Servicing academic committees. To include writing minutes, reports and when necessary, taking follow-up actions
  • Other administrative tasks such as inbox management in order to assist with the smooth running of the department

Student and Academic Support Officer Key Skills:

  • Experience in a higher education setting. Particularly with student records and assessment processes and equipped with time management skills to prioritise tasks
  • Highly proficient in IT. To include Microsoft particularly Excel for handling large data sets. Good working knowledge of student management systems such as Unit-E or SITS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills which demonstrate an ability to communicate professionally with all individuals, internally and externally
  • Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to use spreadsheets to design and analyse datasets
