Our client, a leading London University, are looking for a Part-time Research Grants and Contracts Associate to step into a dynamic role on a contract basis. The post holder for this exciting role would provide an efficient and effective pre-award service for members of University staff who are engaged in research.

The successful candidate would be expected to provide support to the Pre-Award service by assisting with research and grants processes, advise academic staff on funders’ terms and conditions and College policy as well as help contribute towards the overall smooth running and practice on research-related matters. It is expected that the post-holder will also develop their own expertise in research funding.

Suitable candidates will be highly numerate, with strong written and verbal communications skills, the ability to build productive working relationships and will also have excellent organisational skills. if you feel you have the required experience and skills, please apply today!

Research Grants and Contracts Associate Responsibilities:

  • To provide advice and full support for Academic staff with respect to research funding, including submiting of official costings on behalf of the College; approve research applications; accept grants; negotiate grant and collaboration agreement conditions
  • To act as the main point of contact for all research grants and resources for internal and external partners and to build key relationships
  • Ensure that deadlines are met for application submissions
  • To contact and discuss funding proposals with grant-giving bodies when queries arise pre-award of funding.
  • To develop an in depth understanding of the School’s research profile, its strengths / weaknesses, staff capabilities, facilities and opportunities for development
  • To publicise and promote funding opportunities to staff in the School, advising groups and individuals on appropriate funding bodies / schemes to apply to
  • To provide regular management information to the School on numbers and types of applications submitted, success rates and other information as required
  • To run and/or contribute to briefing / training sessions for staff on research funding related matters
  • To maintain and develop the School’s research funding webpages to provide guidance and information to School staff on research funding
  • To provide documentation and produce reports as required
  • Develop a good understanding of the university’s research information system for importing and uploading research papers onto the system for academic staff across the Faculty

Research Grants and Contracts Associate Skills and Experience:

  • Previous knowledge of the grants application process ideally within a Higher Education setting or similar field
  • Previous funding support experience
  • Able to prioritise heavy workloads to tight timeframes
  • Excellent communication skills, to be able to liaise with multiple stakeholders at any one time for grant submissions
  • A high attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Proactive and positive approach to work
